He had never taken a French class when he began his weekly tutorials with Virginie. She was patient and thoughtful in her assessment of his skills and potential, and she charted an ambitious and engaging course for him.

Under Virginie’s instruction he flourished. Last fall he placed into French III (the only freshman in the class) and he is on track to complete his AP coursework a year ahead of schedule. My son is now not only an excellent French student, but he has a deep appreciation for French culture and history. I attribute much of his enthusiasm to Virginie, who is one of the most exceptional teachers I have ever met, and who is especially skilled in language instruction.

Virginie is a wonderful teacher and a lovely person. She carefully constructs a curriculum that she knows will engage me while also addressing my weakest areas. Virginie is quintessentially French, and she peppers her lessons with interesting anecdotes about life in France and explanations about French slang and how the French actually speak on a casual daily basis. These are insights and takeaways that one cannot easily glean from a textbook or from a non-native speaker with limited life experience in France.

In 2023, I enjoyed several months of French conversation classes with Virginie Wiggins, and I can say, without reservation, that she is an excellent teacher. She presented interesting topics to discuss, calibrated carefully to my level of French skill. I enjoyed every single lesson I took as it was made extremely stimulating thanks to the variety of topics chosen and resources that Virginie used. Every lesson was tailored according to my specific needs and interests. By using several different materials, Virginie was able to maintain my level of attention and enthusiasm very high. As a matter of fact Virginie surprised me each time with new sources such as: newspaper articles, current events discussion, short movies, commercials, etc.
